Here are some of the other ways in which you can support San Francisco’s urban forest:
Donate used goods to Community Thrift
The non-profit Community Thrift Store (623 Valencia Street, San Francisco, tel. 415-861-4910) contributes a percentage of sales to non-profit organizations. When you donate used clothing, housewares and other items to the store, you can specify that Friends of the Urban Forest should benefit from those sales (we’re “account #241”).
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support FUF every time you shop, at no cost to you. To shop at AmazonSmile, simply go to smile.amazon.com. You’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection, and convenient shopping experience as amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to us. Just make sure you choose FUF on your first visit.
Go solar with Sungevity
Friends of the Urban Forest has partnered with Sungevity, a top-rated solar provider based in Oakland, to help more people go solar while supporting FUF. When you go solar, Sungevity will award you a personal $750 credit towards your system, and FUF will receive a $750 donation on your behalf. Kind of like FUF, Sungevity employs a creative financing model that is designed to make doing something good for the environment easy on your wallet too.
Donate a Vehicle
When you donate your old car, truck, or other unwanted vehicle, Friends of the Urban Forest benefits, and you qualify for a tax deduction. The Vehicle Donation Processing Center will pick it up whether it’s running or not, and handle all the paperwork.
