Friends of the Urban Forest has created this web page to inform our community about how we’re responding to concerns about the spread of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Our overarching goals are to take all appropriate measures to protect the health and well-being of our staff and volunteers, and to continue the important work of the organization as best we can.
We currently believe that it’s best for us to implement the following practices until further notice:
- Volunteers may not participate in our program activities until it’s safe to welcome them again;
- Staff and contractors will be working remotely and our offices in the Presidio will not be open;
- We’re minimizing our field work to essential services such as tree watering and emergency tree care.
We hope these temporary measures help safeguard our wonderful San Francisco community and its most vulnerable members. We will conduct remote operations during normal business hours to continue to advance our mission. We welcome you to contact us via email, phone, and mail.
There’s a lot we don’t yet know about this new challenge. Our management team has developed plans for how we might continue operations in several possible scenarios. We expect that coronavirus / COVID-19 will impact us for months to come. But as soon as we can safely do so, we will take appropriate steps to resume the vital work of greening San Francisco.
