Planting Leader

Job description:
Lead a group during a Saturday Tree Planting Event.

Work schedule:
Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Free lunch, noon to 1 p.m.

Duties:
1. Lead a group of 5-10 people to plant trees
2. Demonstrate the proper techniques of tree planting
3. Field questions about trees and FUF program
4. Delegate well to make sure of safe lifting of heavy tools
5. Good people skills
6. Efficient use of resources and time

Work environment:
Outdoors. Location varies throughout San Francisco. Dress accordingly. Wear sunscreen, jeans, sweater or T shirt, garden gloves, and hat. Bring a bottle of water. We plant rain or shine.

Qualifications:
Must be in good health. Some knowledge of trees. Taking the Planting Leader Workshop (requires participation in a minimum of two plantings) is strongly recommended.

Staff person’s role:
Planting Manager coordination, supervision, and additional training as necessary. Planting Manager to send quarterly newsletter with updates in planting techniques and FUF operations.
