Tree Planter

Job description:
Participate in street tree planting to assist neighborhoods to plant 15 gallon trees. Volunteers are divided up into groups. Many tree planters have become Tree Planting Leaders with additional training.

Work schedule:
4 hours on Saturday. Tree planting is from 9a.m. to approximately noon. Free lunch is noon -1p.m. Meet at 9 a.m.

Duties:
1. All aspects of planting trees with guidance from Planting Leaders and Planting Manager including digging holes, staking and tyng new trees, watering, etc.
2. All work is shared and ability to lift heavy items is therefore not required
3. Support newly planted trees
4. Clean up

Work environment:
Outdoors. Location varies throughout San Francisco. Dress accordingly. Wear sunscreen, jeans, sweater or T shirt, garden gloves, and hat. Bring a bottle of water. We plant rain or shine.

Qualifications:
Good general health and willingness to help.

Staff person’s role:
Volunteer to phone Planting Manager to RSVP. Planting Manager will conduct a tree planting demonstration prior to planting trees and will provide all necessary tools.
