Preventative Tree Care

Job description:
Help rescue San Francisco’s injured and dying street trees. Be a part of a team that identifies and helps young FUF trees recover from injury and mistreatment. Does not require tree climbing. May require being on a ladder and pounding stakes.

Work schedule:
Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday either 9am-noon or 1pm-4pm. Volunteers can also use their own car or truck. Car must be large enough to hold 8 feet stakes.

Duties:
1. Some pruning as needed to correct emergency
2. Adjusting stakes, ties, and screens
3. Make recommendations on door hanger

Work environment:
Outdoor. Traveling by FUF’s pick up truck to different sites in the city. Tools will be provided.

Qualifications:
Ability to lift and safely use metal stake pounder(20lbs). Some knowledge about trees. Have participated in tree plantings or tree care workdays. Staff person will provide training.

Staff person’s role:
Supervision by Tree Care Coordinator.
