| CHARACTER:
Evergreen; round form with weeping branch tips. Fairly open canopy. SIZE: Medium (Height: 20-30'; Spread: 20-30'). GROWTH RATE: Moderate FOLIAGE: Light green leaves, 3/4" long x 1/4" wide, twisted and prickly to the touch. FLOWER/FRUIT/BARK: Creamy white bottlebrush-like flowers, 1-2" long, bloom in summer. MONTHLY WATERING NEEDS: 1st year: 4; 2nd year: 3; 3rd year: 2. TREE CARE: Moderate. Requires annual pruning; light sidewalk clean-up during flower drop. Stake and prune when young to develop good branch structure. TOLERANCES: Drought; poor drainage; any soil; gusty winds; fog. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Prefers sun. When planting, handle rootball with extreme care or tree will go into transplant shock. Do not let rootball dry out during establishment period. Needs extra water in hot or windy conditions. NOTABLE TRAITS: Very similar to the Melaleuca linariifolia in apperarance until touched.
