| CHARACTER:
Evergreen; round to irregular form; open canopy. SIZE: Small (Height: 15-20'; Spread: 15'). GROWTH RATE: Moderate to fast FOLIAGE: Grey-green, obovate-oblong to obovate-cuneate leaves, to 1" long. FLOWER/FRUIT/BARK: Lavender or rosy pink flowers, 1" across, in summer. Hard, brown seed capsules, 1/4" across, persist on tree year-round. Bark is thick, spongy and gray, peeling in broad strips. MONTHLY WATERING NEEDS: 1st year: 4; 2nd year: 3; 3rd year: TREE CARE: Low. equires light annual pruning. TOLERANCES: Drought; poor drainage; any soil; gusty, steady, or cold winds; smog; fog; containers. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Prefers sun. Less sensitive thanother melaleucas, but still requires care when planting. Do not disturb rootball or allow rootball to dry out during establishment period or tree may go into transplant shock. Needs extra water in hot or windy conditions. Occasional summer watering will improve appearance. NOTABLE TRAITS: Attractive irregular branching pattern with nearly fluorescent pink flowers. Good small tree for limited space in coastal neighborhoods.
