| CHARACTER:
Evergreen; round form; moderate canopy. SIZE: Small (Height: 15-25'; Spread: 20'). GROWTH RATE: Moderate. FOLIAGE: Dark green, needle-like leaves, 1" long. FLOWER/FRUIT/BARK: Yellow-white flowers, in clusters 1" across, bloom April-July. Hard, brown seed capsules, 1/4" across, persist on tree for years. Shredding, light brown bark. MONTHLY WATERING NEEDS: 1st year: 4; 2nd year: 3; 3rd year: 2. TREE CARE: Low. Requires occasional pruning. TOLERANCES: Drought; poor drainage; any soil; salt air; gusty winds; fog. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Prefers sun. When planting, handle rootball with care or tree will go into transplant shock. Do not let rootball dry out during establishment period. Needs extra water in hot or windy conditions. NOTABLE TRAITS: Excellent tree beneath overhead wires. Disease and pest resistant. Attracts birds.
