| CHARACTER:
Evergreen; upright, oval form; moderate canopy. SIZE: Medium (Height: 15-20; Spread: 10). GROWTH RATE: Moderate to fast. FOLIAGE: Dark green, elliptic with few spines, 2-3" long. FLOWER/FRUIT/BARK: Flowers are insignificant. Berries are red, 1/4" in clusters in winter. I. a. Wilsonii is a female cultivar. MONTHLY WATERING NEEDS: 1st year: 4; 2nd year: 3; 3rd year: 3. TREE CARE: Moderate to low. Prune to open typically dense canopy. TOLERANCES: Drought, once established; cool winds. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Subject to scale and mealy bug. NOTABLE TRAITS: Attractive, small scale tree with fairly clean berries in winter. If not enjoyed by birds, the berries will dry, and eventually fall to the ground without causing a mess.
