SIZE: Large (Height: 30-40'; Spread: 15-20'). GROWTH RATE: Moderate. FOLIAGE: Light green, glossy fronds to 15' long. FLOWER/FRUIT/BARK: Flower and fruit unlikely in SF. Smooth gray-brown trunk. MONTHLY WATERING NEEDS: In general, 15-20 gallons per week for the first 2 years; 15-20 gallons twice a month for the 3rd year; as needed after 3 years (varies by soil, sun, and wind conditions). TREE CARE: Low. Prune spent fronds. Needs regular water. TOLERANCES: Sandy soil. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Needs sun, warmth, and good drainage. Fronds get wind burnt. Shallow root system.
