| CHARACTER: Evergreen; round form; moderate canopy.
SIZE: Medium (Height: 25-40'; Spread: 20'). GROWTH RATE: Moderate. FOLIAGE: Dark green, glossy, wavy-edged, narrow leaves, 3-6" long. FLOWER/FRUIT/BARK: White flowers in 3" clusters bloom in cycles throughout the year. Orange berries, 1/2" across, form in fall and drop in winter. Smooth, gray bark. MONTHLY WATERING NEEDS: 15-20 gallons per week for the first 2 years; 15-20 gallons twice a month for the 3rd year; as needed after 3 years (varies by soil, sun, and wind conditions). TREE CARE: Moderate. Early pruning needed to train a good shape; pruning needed less frequently with age. Do not prune central leader. Requires sidewalk clean-up during flower and fruit drop. TOLERANCES: Drought (once established), sandy or clay soil, gusty or cold winds, fog, smog. Sun or shade. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Prefers sun, warmth, and good drainage. Develops significant roots with age. 4x4' basins recommended. Flowers and berries can cause stickiness on paving. Subject to poor rooting. NOTABLE TRAITS: Native to Australia. Valued for their foliage and form when allowed to branch naturally. Flowers are very fragrant, like orange blossoms, most noticeable in the evenings. Attracts birds and bees.
