FUF NAMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
SAN FRANCISCO, April 1 The board of directors of Friends of the Urban Forest is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelly Quirke as its new Executive Director following a national search.
A longtime resident of San Francisco, Quirke is veteran organizer on environmental, community, and other issues on a local and global scale. He assumed his duties in mid-March.
Quirke previously was Executive Director of Rainforest Action Network, the grassroots group dedicated to protecting temperate and tropical rainforests. Most recently, he has been working as an independent consultant on environmental, community and social-justice issues.
"I am thrilled to join the dedicated staff, board, volunteers and supporters of Friends of the Urban Forest," said Quirke. "With Mayor Newsom's commitment to accelerate the greening of San Francisco, I look forward to FUF's leadership role in helping all city neighborhoods to enhance and maintain our urban forest."
